Each MRE 220 SE monoblock runs four KT88-S4A-Carbon tubes, with KT120 TS or KT150 TS tubes available as an alternative. Output power reaches 200W RMS at 4 ohms in High mode and 140W RMS in Low mode, with frequency response spanning 20Hz to 70kHz.
The amplifier's key addition over earlier MRE models is a switchable damping factor, set to LOW (DF 4) or HIGH (DF 8) at an 8 ohm load through chassis-mounted switches that also adjust negative feedback. That lets you dial in the amplifier's behavior speaker by speaker rather than accepting one fixed damping characteristic.
Each monoblock takes one RCA and one XLR input, switchable, with a gain of +26dB and input sensitivity of 1V RCA or 2x0.5V XLR. Soft start electronics, a bias display, and Eco Mode round out the control set, and the amplifier accepts Octave's Black Box or Super Black Box external power supply for added headroom on demanding loads.
