From Octave
OUT1 is the standard module, giving a fixed and a variable RCA output from the Phono Module. The fixed output feeds a preamplifier's high-level input, while the variable output works for an external headphone amplifier or as a direct recording feed to tape or a computer.
OUT2 uses a tube-based variable output built to drive an unbalanced power amplifier directly, bypassing a separate preamplifier stage; its fixed output still connects to a high-level input as usual. OUT3 does the same job over a balanced connection, with a tube variable output built to drive balanced power amplifiers directly.
