The EQ.2 handles both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges from a single compact chassis, with input impedance selectable across a range from 62 to 1,000 ohms and gain adjustable in four steps for MC: 58dB, 62dB, 68dB, and 72dB, plus a fixed 50dB for MM. That range of adjustment lets you tune the preamp's loading to a specific cartridge rather than accepting one fixed setting.
An external power supply keeps the 50 or 60Hz line frequency away from the very low input voltages coming off the cartridge, and a subsonic filter protects bass drivers from subsonic rumble. All connectors are gold plated.
The Phono EQ.2 works as a standalone alternative for amplifiers and preamplifiers that lack a dedicated phono stage, or whose built-in phono input falls short of a dedicated outboard design.
