Opera has built loudspeakers in Dosson di Casier, near Treviso, since 1989, when founder Giovanni Nasta set out to make speakers as good to look at as to hear. Cabinets are still made the Italian way: real wood, hand finishing, and on the Callas Special Edition a coral-red Padouk hardwood. The company shares its factory and family with tube amp maker Unison Research, and the voicing leans the same way: relaxed and warm. Start with the Callas. You'll want to touch it before you play it.
