Ortofon dates to 1918, when Danish engineers Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen founded it to put synchronized sound on film. It's built phono cartridges in Denmark ever since vinyl arrived, and it calls itself a micro-mechanical powerhouse for good reason: coils, cantilevers, and even the rubber suspensions in the new MC X series are designed and produced in-house. The SPU of 1959 is still in the catalog. From a first 2M Red to a flagship MC X50, you're fitting your turntable with more than 100 years of accumulated skill.
