From Thorens

The MC 1600 runs each channel through its own fully symmetrical amplifier section. Precision resistors, film capacitors, and low-noise op-amps handle the signal path.

Designed for moving-coil cartridges. The balanced topology aims to reject common-mode noise across the phono signal chain.
